Introduction

Hello, thank you for joining me along my journey of becoming a Runner! I've always been an active guy, played sports in high school and continued into adult recreation sports after high school. As I started my family and found a career, the activity level slowly decreased. Well my Fiance had enough of our lazy ways and started on the Weight Watchers program and completely overhauled our daily meals. Step 2 was getting more active, so we decided to JOG our annual Juvenile Diabetes charity walk and actually enjoyed the activity. The month following the charity walk, we signed up for our first official 5K and had an absolute blast. From that point forward I have officially been BIT by the running bug and this is my journey to becoming a RUNNER!

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday to everyone!!

So my weekend consisted of a ton of activities none of which were running lol.  But I did get in a nice run on Friday and a couple quick bike rides to shake off the anxiety Buster was having. (Not real anxiety he just gets real restless if we don’t go for a run every other day.)

I got off work early on Friday and headed up to the elementary school to have lunch with my son.  BTW…it is hilarious to watch 1stgraders interact at lunch.  Some of the topics of conversation are crazy funny.  After lunch I ran some errands and when I got back home Mrs. Schlub was taking a nap with our daughter.  I pretty much had nothing better to do so I laced em up, grabbed buster, and hit the road.  It was a gorgeous AZ day, little over cast with a pretty good breeze.  This run was a planned negative split so I started out with a pretty smooth pace and clicked off the first mile at 7:50.  Let Buster take a potty break then headed back home with a little more pep in my step.  Finished the second mile in 7:40 with a moving pace of 7:21.  I was actually surprised by the return mile pace because there were pretty good wind gusts in my face the entire way home AND I stopped to snap a few pictures along the way.

I’m hoping to get a full post about my PF recovery this week as well as a couple trail runs with some sunrise pictures.  Hope everyone is having a great start to their week.

  2. I can't believe you can run those times and stop and take pictures! The green trees in your pix look great...the leaves will be out in a while here...Enjoy the trail! I did my first trail "run" this weekend...it was more of a fast hike--I encountered snow and slippery conditions...I am sure it will be gone this week though!
