I'm in a pretty good groove right now. Going on 4 days running straight, I was contemplating a rest day after The Fiancé`s birthday dinner. On a whim I decided to knock out a few miles.
Before I get to my run let me go over my recent motivation. I am a competitive guy and work harder when I have something to shoot for. Right now I have the best motivation I've ever had. That motivation is my fiancé. Last month she tallied over 100 miles while I was at 75. I conceded that to her as I've only been focusing on distance the last couple months, before that I was focused on my 5k time. So my initial goal coming into this month was to have more total miles than her. Right now we are battling back and forth and she is driving me to a monster month. I was off from work because it was her birthday, what does she do?? goes out and knocks out 7 miles. Wow great run, what was I going to do? So when it came time for me to run, I decided to get out for just a few miles.
Buster and I set out for a nice slow run. First mile was smooth and my legs loosened up quickly. Decided to drop Buster off after 2 miles....and it was on! Legs felt great and my stride was smooth....I was coming after her. Ended up running 7.5 miles in 1:02:06 and incredibly at 8:17 pace. Easily one of my best runs and all thanks to The Fiancé.
Back to back great runs. I'm feeling the tiredness in my legs but my ITB pain is pretty much gone. I'm in a really good spot and feel really strong with our races coming up. In the mean time The Fiancé has me by less than a mile for April. Going to be hard because she is just as competitive, but I'm going to give her a run for her money!
What has you motivated right now? Any races coming up?
Hello, thank you for joining me along my journey of becoming a Runner! I've always been an active guy, played sports in high school and continued into adult recreation sports after high school. As I started my family and found a career, the activity level slowly decreased. Well my Fiance had enough of our lazy ways and started on the Weight Watchers program and completely overhauled our daily meals. Step 2 was getting more active, so we decided to JOG our annual Juvenile Diabetes charity walk and actually enjoyed the activity. The month following the charity walk, we signed up for our first official 5K and had an absolute blast. From that point forward I have officially been BIT by the running bug and this is my journey to becoming a RUNNER!
